"Music wasn't something she chose — it chose her, almost before she could walk."

Sanjukta's journey begins at age three, under the nurturing guidance of her father, Shri Somnath Mukhopadhyay. Music was never a curriculum in her home — it was the texture of daily life, absorbed long before it was formally taught.

At 18, her training took a defining turn when she joined Shruti Nandan, studying under the mentorship of Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty — one of the most revered names in Hindustani classical music. Under his guidance, her grounding in two distinct gharanas crystallised into a voice that is at once disciplined and deeply personal.

Today, Sanjukta stands as one of Gurugram's most celebrated vocalists — an artist who honours tradition while bringing her own warmth and presence to every performance.

Beyond the stage, Sanjukta is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians. Since 2014, she has served as Founder and Director of Gurukul Music Academy in Gurugram — a space where students learn Hindustani classical music in the traditional guru-shishya tradition, guided by the same values of discipline, devotion, and artistry that shaped her own journey.

Her academic grounding runs equally deep: a Bachelor of Arts in Music, a Master's in Music, and advanced diplomas in Sangeet Bhaskar, Sangeet Visharad (Rabindra Sangeet), and Sangeet Visharad (Nazrul Geeti) — a scholarly foundation that few performing artists carry alongside their stagecraft.

Her accolades — spanning national recognition to international acclaim — stand alongside a rigorous academic foundation in Shastriya Sangeet, Rabindra Sangeet, and Nazrul Geeti, a rare combination of performance excellence and scholarly depth.
